Our last event was aFly Tying Workshop on Saturday, January 30 at the Aspray Boathouse in Warwick, RI hosted by the United Fly Tyers of Rhode Island. It was a great success and Juniors learned how to tie flies, as well as techniques for choosing the best fly for the conditions or, as fly fishermen say, "to match the hatch." In December we had a Lure Building Workshop The lure building workshop was a fun experience for all juniors to participated. See some of the photos HERE. Tog Fishing Event Report
The RISAA Juniors visited Fort Adams in Newport, RI on November 7, to see if we could haul in a few blackfish to finish off the season. Unfortunately, the fish didn't cooperate but we did learn a lot from tog fishing expert Lamarr Wallace.
When we first arrived, there was a pod of dolphins swimming out towards the middle of the bay. The early birds got a glimpse of them before they headed back out to the ocean. Thanks to Jack & Brandon Hagopian for the picture of the dolphins. |
